Diversity and Inclusion Support Officer

We are looking for a D&I Support Officer to come and join our people services team on a FTC basis in Birmingham. The Commission launched its 3 year D&I strategy in June 2023 and is currently delivering against a plan to achieve the 3 strategy outcomes. As part of the People Services team, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the D&I Manager in the delivery of various aspects of the plan, as well as supporting the development of future work and contributing to the building of an inclusive culture.
The Benefits:
- Salary of circa £35,000 per annum
- Civil service pension, with an employer contribution rate of 27%

- Hybrid working, specific guidelines are to be agreed with line manager
- 26 days’ holiday, rising to 29 days after two years’ service, with the option to buy up to five days’ extra annual leave
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting into the Diversity and Inclusion Manager, the candidate will help the Commission deliver against the plan to achieve the 3 key strategy outcomes. This will include:
- Supporting the D&I Manager in the development of inclusive recruitment practices, reviewing existing people services policies to ensure D&I is a key component, development and monitoring reporting requirements and maintaining governance arrangements
- Assisting the D&I Manager in the coordination and implementation of the strategy action plan, taking ownership of aspects of the strategy and overseeing the delivery of outcomes in line with the Commission’s wider strategic objectives including –
- Completion of the Inclusive Employers Foundation Assessment and subsequent action plan to achieve Bronze Award
- Creation of D&I data dashboards for senior leaders to monitor representation across teams
- Organising meetings of the D&I Exec and Operating Groups and maintaining decision logs
- Provide training and guidance to both new and existing colleagues on D&I initiatives and how they impact day to day processes
- Reviewing and analysing Diversity and Inclusion data, with an ability to identify key trends and possible interventions
- Embodying and promoting the benefits of a diverse and inclusive workplace, understanding the challenges of organisational change whilst maintaining an empathetic approach when communicating with underrepresented groups
- Collaborate across the People Services team and wider Commission to build relationships and ensure initiatives and actions are landed successfully- Supporting the internal communications team in the development and delivery of written communications to ensure the business is kept aware of the ongoing D&I work and key messages

Person Specification:
Essential:
- Motivation and passion for Diversity and Inclusion led principles and practices
- An understanding of the importance of inclusive work environments
- An understanding of policy development and governance processes
- Experience of supporting projects with multiple work streams
- Experience of analysing and interpreting data and presenting findings
- Empathy and sensitivity towards underrepresented groups with the ability to build rapport and empower these colleagues to ensure their voice is heard
- Proven experience of stakeholder management and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
Desirable:
- Experience of supporting D&I project outcomes
- Experience of writing internal communications
