Potential Temporary Training Instructor, WMB Vacancy - Training & Development Centre Salary: In line with service and national terms and conditionsBasis: Full timePackage: The post also attracts an Additional Responsibility Allowance.Contractual Hours: 42Region: Job Category: Operations Job Description: Internal Vacancy: Potential Temporary Training Instructor Vacancy, WMB A potential Training Instructor (Watch Manager B) vacancy is anticipated, with a possible start date in early January 2026, to cover a temporary move out of the department. Focused on high quality training support for operational response, the Instructor team is responsible for the delivery of the Service’s safety critical training and assessment programme. Expressions of interest are invited now from the following: Temporary transfers of substantive Watch Manager Bs holding instructor qualifications (BA/TVT /Fire Behaviour Instructor essential) Appointments on temporary promotion Applications for appointment on temporary promotion are invited from substantive wholetime and day duty system Crew Managers holding instructor qualifications (BA/TVT /Fire Behaviour Instructor essential) who meet the following criteria: are in the WM talent pool, having successfully passed the Watch Manager gateway or holding a current pass for the Supervisory Manager In-band PQA process and Post In-band Interview and hold the relevant technical examinations (Refer V09 01/03 Technical Examinations for Operational and Control Roles). are in the WM temporary pool, having undertaken the Watch Manager gateway and eligible for temporary appointment only are competent Crew Commanders. Expressions of interest will be welcomed from those wishing to transfer at their existing Crew Manager role, but anyone looking to join in the role above on promotion will need to complete a Watch Manager promotion gateway process, and enter the Watch Manager talent pool to be eligible for any future substantive appointment in post. (Applicants will be required to undertake the next WM gateway process, or complete any outstanding elements at the next available opportunity). The safety critical training and assessment programme covers a wide range of activities and interested personnel are encouraged to contact members of the T&DC to discuss the role and gain a full understanding of the work of the Instructor team. The post is conditioned to the ten-week instructor rota and to Grey Book and Service conditions. The post also attracts an Additional Responsibility Allowance, currently agreed at £1,720 per annum. Assignment decisions are based on best fit and suitability for the role, rather than on rank order and scores from promotion board.
