Overview of Housing Assistant Officer

Pertemps has an exciting opportunity within Harrow Council for a self-driven and motivated Housing Assistant Officer to join an expanding team.

The role of Housing Assistant Officer has a competitive pay rate of £14.21 Payee. Other benefits include excellent training and support for career development and 21 days of holiday (excluding Bank Holidays).

Overview of Housing Assistant Officer:

  • To support the capture, priority and action on tenancy, and leasehold issues liaising with partners and other internal and external service providers, adhering to corporate and statutory timescales.
  • To assist in the operation and maintenance of databases and any other records including the rent collection system to ensure that information on systems is up to date.
  • To provide telephone duty rota cover
  • To issue fobs to customers as and when required.
  • To work with tenants/resident's associations, to ensure a prompt appropriate response to their issues of concern.
  • To deal effectively with initial enquiries by customers approaching the Housing Department for advice/ assistance
  • Undertake low level actions to prevent arrears and other housing management activities.
  • To carry out Tenancy Audits, Vulnerable Visits and Settling-in visits.
  • To support housing officers with Gas Access and EICR compliances.
  • To undertake all reasonable management requests as required
  • To take payments - setting up direct debits, processing cheques
" An understanding of the service delivery, Government Policy, Legislative frameworks, and key issues, including equalities issues, relevant to the management of Housing Tenancies.
" Knowledge of housing and related public sector legislation
" Knowledge of basic repairs and maintenance issues in relation to homes and estates.
" Awareness of the needs of minority groups and of issues that may provide a barrier to meeting needs.

" Commitment to ensuring that all groups in the community receive high quality housing management services.
" High standard of personal presentation.

Other Requirements:
" The job involves travel for business purposes.
" Hold a driving licence and a car.
