Job Summary:

You will play a crucial role in the Nursing team, working under the guidance of a Registered General Nurse. Your main focus will be to support the organization and facilitation of clinical care for our patients in a holistic and proactive manner.

Main Duties of the Job:

  • Maintain a high professional standard of nursing care following Practice protocols/policies & guidelines.
  • Assist with routine nursing tasks such as BP checks, ECG, and lifestyle advice.
  • Support patients in improving their mental, physical, and behavioral health through behavior change interventions.
  • Maintain accurate electronic clinical health care records.

Job Responsibilities:

Principle Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Assist with routine nursing tasks like BP checks, ECG, and wound care.
  • Support patients in maintaining their health and wellbeing through behavior change interventions.
  • Collaborate with the RGN in planning wound care for patients with chronic and acute wounds.
  • Implement agreed wound care plans and handle minor traumatic wounds within your competency level.
  • Undertake tasks like Leg Ulcer care, NHS immunization programs, and administration of prescribed medicines.
  • Provide ear irrigation and collect pathology specimens as required.
  • Support chronic disease management and health promotion.
  • Participate in screening programs and investigatory tests when necessary.
  • Ensure infection control measures are in place and follow practice policies.
  • Assist in stock management and maintain accurate records.
  • Recognize and report safeguarding concerns when needed.
  • Attend practice meetings and engage in continuous training and development.
  • Adhere to all policies and protocols outlined in the Staff Handbook and contract.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

  • Nursing Associate Foundation Degree
  • Registered Nursing Associate on NMC register

Experience:

Essential

  • Prior experience in primary care or community settings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to follow clinical protocols.
  • Proficient in IT systems and clinical IT applications.
  • Time management skills and commitment to quality improvement.
  • Experience in safeguarding practice and clinical skills relevant to primary care.
  • Desire to promote self-care and provide lifestyle advice.
  • Knowledge of wound care, Clinical Governance, and NMC code of conduct.

Desirable

  • Experience in healthcare prior to foundation degree training.
  • Core medicine management knowledge and Leg Ulcer management expertise.
  • Competency in ear care/syringe and Doppler skills.
  • Training in administering injections following PSD standards.
