Support Worker/ Healthcare Assistant

Two positions available we have a 34.5 and 23 hours post.

Shifts available from- 07:30-19:30 or 07:30 -13:30 and 13:30 19:30.

Please note you must have the entitlement to work over 20 hours per week.

Due to the location of this role, you will preferably be a driver or live close to the Neatherseal/Swadlincote area. As public transport is limited in the area. Please check the location before applying. We are based on Main Street, Netherseal, Swadlincote, DE12 8DA.

A night enhancement of £1.50 per hour will apply from 8pm to 7am Monday – Sunday (this does not apply to sleep-ins). A weekend day enhancement of £2.00 per hour will be paid from 7am to 8pm, Saturday and Sunday. This will be implemented on a trial basis.

Newlands House is home for 37 people with physical disabilities.

As a Support Worker with Leonard Cheshire you will become part of a fantastic team. Every day is different, but here are just some of the duties you will do:

  • Assistance with daily life tasks including personal care, medication and mealtimes.
  • Escort and assist in and around the service, at external events and appointments.
  • Supporting our Person Centred approach, encouraging maximum independence for our customers and helping to achieve individual aspirations.
  • Maintain up to date and accurate records.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Work flexibly and creatively with customers and their families.
  • Ideally have personal care experience (not essential).
  • Be able to work under pressure and as a team.
  • Flexibility to work within rostered hours / prepared to participate in an on-call rota where required.
