Applications are invited for the Consultant in Cardiology post. This post is within the Cardiology Department/Specialist Medicine Care group of the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro.

We are currently a team of 9 substantive full-time Cardiologists, 1 part-time Cardiologist on retire and return scheme, and 3 NHS Fixed Term Locums (covering 2 maternity leaves and a vacancy).

This post is principally designed to support delivery of non-interventional Cardiology services, specifically Heart Failure and Devices.

There is no general medical commitment.

Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share, while recognising that the full-time post attracts up to a 12 PA job plan.

The post holder will share the in-patient management of Cardiology patients with the twelve existing full time consultants. Inpatients are managed on CIU and Roskear wards and the CCU, although there are also outlying patients.

The Cardiologists are responsible for the clinical management of all patients on the CCU and CIU and cardiology patients on Roskear.

There will be 1 in 7 or 2 in 14 weeks (depending on appointments) where one consultant is the Cardiologist of the week (COW) and has full responsibility for inpatients, with daily ward rounds performed.
