An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as part of the Endoscopy waiting list team.

This role involves working with the Endoscopy staff to book and assess patients for their endoscopy, which includes complex endoscopy procedures.


This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires excellent communication skills with which to liaise with patients, relatives and members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Experience in the use of systems such as WPAS and WCP is desirable. Training on the use of the endoscopy booking and reporting system EMS will be provided.

To create a waiting list entry for patients requiring admission.

Undertake telephone assessment.

Undertake booking of elective admissions for cancer patients.

To deal with telephone queries in an empathetic and productive manner, taking appropriate action to ensure high customer satisfaction.

To collect and collate data.

To liaise with consultants, nursing staff and other health care professionals to ensure endoscopy waiting lists are efficiently used.

To understand referral to treatment (RTT) rules and to use them to manage all elective patient journeys.

To liaise closely with Cancer Services to ensure these are scheduled appropriately.

To proactively manage patient pathways to avoid breach targets and identify and report any issues to line manager.


To undertake regular validation of the RTT pathways and take appropriate action to ensure patients receive treatment in a timely manner.

To work to strict timescales and be able to prioritise workload.

To attend relevant meetings.

To undertake appropriate training.

Ensure Health Board systems are updated with patient pathway status and information.

To provide support across site when staff members are on Annual leave or absent.

48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post.
