HealthNet are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Deputy Superintendent Pharmacist to join our team. As the Deputy Superintendent Pharmacist, you will be a qualified pharmacist responsible for supporting the Superintendent Pharmacist and senior operational managers in the management and leadership of HealthNet's pharmacy business, ensuring that all pharmacy activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

Main Responsibilities

To Support the Superintendent Pharmacist in the professional pharmacy leadership of the business, ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with the legal and regulatory requirements of the Medicines Act (1968); The Human Medicines Regulations(2012); The Misuse of Drugs Act; Good Distribution Practice; General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) professional standards and Health and Safety Regulations.

  • To understand Pharmacy regulation and standards and their application in the clinical homecare setting to enable the provision of clinical and professional advice to pharmacy staff and the wider business
  • To be named on HealthNet's Home Office Controlled Drug Licence(s) ensuring annual renewal, compliance, monitoring, and data submission
  • To lead on HealthNet's compliance with the NHS England Community Pharmacy contract and all related matters such as the maintenance of Smartcards, compliance with Essential Service requirements, and audit activity
  • To support the resolution of escalated complaints and patient safety incidents in line with regulatory and contractual timescales
  • To monitor and maintain the accuracy of all pharmacy records including the pharmacy dispensing systems, medicines storage and security and patient medication records
  • To identify and correct governance and compliance gaps in the Company's pharmacy operations
  • To provide support and advice to the New Service Implementation Team, including professional input into the creation of prescription templates and other service documentation
  • To support the training activities of the business as a subject matter expert
  • To create and review Standard Operating Procedures and other controlled documentation relating to Pharmacy Activities.
  • To undertake the role of Internal Auditor as required
  • To provide clinical and professional advice to the Head of Quality and PV team in pharmacy related matters
  • To take on the role of Responsible Pharmacist from time to time as required
  • To deputise for the Superintendent Pharmacist at internal meetings and events
  • To deputise for the Superintendent Pharmacist at the NCHA's Superintendent Network meetings and other external professional events
  • To perform the role of a Responsible Person Import (RPi) on HealthNet's WDA(H)
  • To lead in the arrangements for the annual staff flu vaccination programme
  • To run regular cross-site pharmacist meetings in the absence of the Superintendent Pharmacist

What experience and skills are we looking for?

Essential

  • At least 3 years of experience working as a pharmacist, regulatory, hospital or clinical homecare experience beneficial
  • Previous experience working in a pharmacy management or leadership role
  • Previous experience in Clinical Homecare
  • Knowledge and understanding of GxP
  • Knowledge and understanding of regulations, standards, and guidance applicable to Pharmacy Practice

Qualifications?

  • Degree in Pharmacy and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Post-graduate diploma or similar desirable
  • Full Driving Licence
