Domestic Abuse Navigator women Only

London, Greater London, United Kingdom St Mungo's Full time

_Are you passionate about making a lasting difference to the lives of vulnerable women, including those experiencing or at risk of abuse? _

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team of Domestic Abuse Navigators across London who focus on supporting women who are at risk of, or have experienced domestic abuse.

The Domestic Abuse Navigators will provide bespoke, through care case work to individuals who require specialist support to remain safe and sustain secure accommodation; and avoiding a return to abuse.

In the Navigator role you will:

  • Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders including local authorities, other homeless services and housing providers
  • Provide a client centred approach, offering support and advice to access health care for physical and/ or mental health conditions, work and training opportunities and the relevant support for other support needs
  • In this role you will work across different locations in either Lambeth or Hackney, to ensure support is provided to clients where it is needed: in local services, on the streets, local day centres, housing options and in people's homes
  • Core hours are 95, Monday
  • Friday, however, flexibility will be required and the postholder will be expected to work some evenings and bank holidays.

About you

This role requires a level of commitment and understanding, with a thorough understanding of professional sector-specific working practices, and the ability to work in a considered, trauma-informed way with clear professional boundaries.

Excellent planning and organisational skills are required as you will be working autonomously:
an ability to keep yourself safe is essential.

You will also have an understanding of the issues faced by women experiencing multiple disadvantage, including homelessness and abuse and the difficulties they experience in accessing services, and will have the ability to empower people to make positive change in their lives.

The ability to nurture positive relationships with individuals, sometimes in a relatively short space of time, and to maintain these relationships, regardless of the situation is also essential.

Whilst you will not have any direct line management duties, you should have the ability to support staff and take the lead with complex clients' cases to identify necessary action plans, influencing and presenting cases to relevant partner agencies when required.

- _For genuine occupational requirement reasons we are looking to appoint a woman only for this post (exemption under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9)._
