A global engineering business based near Wymondham, are looking to hire an experienced and hands on Mechanical Design Engineer for their team.

This is a crucial role with the R&D team and one that will see you supporting in the design, development, prototypingand testing of existing and new machine designs.


Working as part of a dynamic team that are tasked with the design & manufacture of a range of process & test equipment.

After some initial technical product training, you'll be involved in the manufacture of this equipment, as well as fulfilling future process& test equipment requirements.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Integrate yourself with the R&D Team to provide design drawings and bespoke built equipment, to assist with R&D projects as required.
  • Work with the R&D and Global Engineering teams to specify, source and evaluate appropriate 'off the shelf' equipment for manufacture and testing.
  • Manage projects and be able to work to deadlines and budgets.
  • Liaise with suppliers for the purchase and supply of both 'off the shelf' and specialist components & parts.
  • Document and compile Project Construction manuals.
Suitable qualifications and experience will be required, as per below:

  • Degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering, ideally with some involvement in Electronics / Mechatronics.
  • Experience in the process of building industrial machinery & test equipment.
  • SolidWorks experience for Mechanical Design
  • Understanding of mechanical fitting & assembly processes.
  • An appreciation of pneumatics.
  • Electromechanical experience highly sought after
  • Knowledge and/or experience in the construction of rack mounted electronic modules.
  • Machine wiring practices.
  • Some familiarity with PC / PLC based machine control would be desirable but is not essential.
  • Understanding of temperature control theory.

You'll play a key part in the future development of the businesses machines and their technical innovation. You'll earn a competitivesalary of up to £55,000 (possibly more, for the right person) alongside an excellent benefits package.
