As an Early Help Worker based in a Youth Hub, you'll be responsible for providing a high quality, effective and responsive service encouraging children, young people, and families to get involved in activities, through Detached and outreach working, group work and more targeted one-to-one support.


This role requires a Level 3 Diploma (or equivalent) in Youth Work, Childcare, Health and Social Care or a relevant field, or evidence of relevant experience of working with vulnerable children, young people, and families in the public, private or voluntary sector.

Experience or willingness to support the delivery of Detached and outreach work in the community and the Duke of Edinburgh Award is essential.


This post, alongside creativity and good communication, requires flexibility, innovative thinking, and good organisation skills and requires a positive young person-centered approach.

An induction programme will be provided and on-going training to support your training needs.

The role will involve delivering Youth work sessions during Twilight and Evenings within the community and center based, but may include occasional weekend working, or working across the district.

The role requires the ability to create rapport and build relationships with children, young people, and families. Able to gather and interpret information. Have knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks. Be prepared to work in new ways and willing to learn. Whilst working collaboratively to innovate and find new solutions, taking personal and professional responsibility for your actions and performance.

Applicants will need to be able to work as part of a team and understand multi-agency working, as well as work using their own initiative.


You will be Line managed, supported, and motivated by experienced managers, the role of an Open Access Youth Early Help Worker is to be part of a team providing help and guidance to young people and their families.

Part of the role is detached/street based, together with school based and centre based. Additionally to this there will be a need to work some evenings and occasional weekends.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position.

The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.

The Job Description for this role is generic and covers Early Help Support Workers in both Children's Centres and Youth Hubs, this role is based within a Youth Hub.
