Senior Mechanical Engineer - INSIDE IR35 CONTRACT - 6 MONTHS

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:


Responsible for the development of equipment interfaces and procurement specifications.nDesigns mechanical structures, components, and subsystems.nPrepares design specifications, analysis and recommendations including simulation.nConducts subsystem prototype assembly – Identify, design, build and test subsystems.nWrites and manages sub system requirements and verification methods.nRecommends test control methods, pass/fail criteria, strategies, apparatus and equipment.nAssists in the specification and analysis of simulation to mitigate design errors.nSupports interfaces with customers, contractors and vendors.nEvaluates vendor capabilities to provide required products or services.nConducts in-house design reviews and technical meetings.nLeads project teams, delegates project tasks and guides the project team.nPrepares design proposals to reflect cost, schedule and technical approaches.nSupports root cause analysis investigations.nMonitors project status and progress (SPI/CPI).nSupports/Prepares estimates for low to medium value pieces of work.nApplies and maintains quality standards.nChampions high standard of engineering change and release (PLM).nKeep up to date on the latest Engineering techniques, materials and manufacturing methods.nAssist in the hiring of new mechanical engineering team members.


Minimum Job Requirements:
HND/HNC in Mechanical or General Engineering.

A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in a design role is desirable.nBEng/BSc or MEng in Mechanical Engineering, General Engineering or Design engineering.

A minimum 5 years experience in a design role is desirable.nAn applicable Master's degree. A minimum of 3 years experience in a design role is desirable.

Skills/Experience/KnowledgenEssential:


Co-ordination and prioritization of multiple tasks and proven record of delivering on time and in budget.nAbility to perform complex theoretical and analytical problem solving tasks.nExperience in specification and analysing simulation to mitigate design errors.nAbility to conduct basic engineering calculations.nExperience leading project teams of varying experience levels.nExperience in peer reviewing other designers work.nExperience using 3D Solid modelling software Solidworks or equivalent with experience of using CAD data management systems.nPrepare estimates for low to medium value pieces of work.nExperience in writing and reviewing technical reports and specifications.nExperience of reviewing customer requirements and writing subsystem requirements.nExperience of designing sheet metal components.nGood interpersonal skills.nAffective communication both verbal and written.nAbility to communicate at high levels and to non-technical people.nGood, affective attention to detail.nAbility to use typical office software such as MS Word, MS Excel and MS Powerpoint.nHas a desire to develop knowledge and career in mechanical engineering design.nMust be able to work independently as well as in a team.

nExperience in project plan development, maintenance and execution

Desirable:


Previous experience of designing revenue collection equipment including vending machines or special purpose machinery.nUnderstanding of global compliance such as CE marking, C Tick.nUnderstanding of Scrum methodology.nAchieved Prince 2 foundation or practitioner level.nMebership or working towards membership of an engineering professional body.nGood understanding of rapid prototyping methods.nExperience of 3D printing.nExperience of designing plastic injection moulded parts and/or die castings.nExperience using 2D Autocad.nExperience of running simulations such as FEA using ANSYS or equivalent software.
