About The Role


Hounslow Children's Centres support families with children aged 0-5 years by offering a range of universal and targeted services across the borough.


Key Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for the planning and running of universal and targeted sessions within children's centres for children and their families - for example stay and play sessions - appropriate to their needs and developmental stage to ensure school readiness and be able to evidence impact.
  • To plan and lead creche sessions within children's centres, ensuring that all supporting documentation is completed and the impact on the children attending is evidenced.
  • To foster the physical, social, emotional, intellectual and linguistic development of all children attending the Children's Centre, including those with special educational needs.
  • To work in partnership with parents, consulting and sharing information with them about the needs and progress of their child.

Your Skills:

  • You will have an excellent understanding of the Foundation Stage Curriculum and of implementing this within an early years setting.
  • You will have had experience of supporting children with SEND and their families.
  • You will have an excellent understanding of safeguarding procedures in relation to children and their families and will have had practical experience of implementing them within an early years setting.

Professional Qualifications:

An NVQ Level 3 in child and social care or the equivalent is required for this post.

This post is considered by the authority to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers.

The council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
