This is a small but growing company providing specialist installation services for integrated electronic security systems with an established portfolio of high-profile clients based throughout the UK. This is a company that does not deal with routine or repetitive installations and every day is different.

The company is looking for an experienced Fire & Security Engineer to join their small team of committed engineers.

About the role:

Warning: Do not apply if you want a steady job where every day is boring.

This position involves the installation and some maintenance of integrated electronic security systems including intruder alarms, access control, fire alarms and specialist perimeter intruder detections systems. The role will require travel to sites throughout the UK.

Further training will be given on specialist systems for high end perimeter protection systems.

Key Duties and Responsibilities will include:

  • Installation and configuration of intruder alarms, access control, fire systems, perimeter protection and integrated devices.
  • Configuration of devices and system programming on integrated systems software
  • Testing and commissioning systems
  • Where required, inspections, testing and maintenance of systems including fault finding and repair.
  • On-call rota participation on a 1 in 5 week basis. Total average out of hours calls is less than 1 per month.

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate should be able to diagnose faults and demonstrate good customer facing skills. As one of our engineers, you should be confident enough to work on your own as well as part of a team. There is a mixture of both indoor and outdoor work and the candidate should be prepared to travel to sites throughout the UK. Further training will be provided for specialist integrated systems.

  • Sound experience and understanding of CCTV/intruder/Access Control/Fire systems
  • Ideally, experience of perimeter intruder detection systems
  • Able to carry out maintenance and fault finding on all system types
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Good team player
  • Maintain a professional manner when representing the company
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative when required
  • Able to think on your feet
  • Be able to work with ladders
  • Valid UK driving licence
  • The successful candidate will be required to pass police checks plus further high level security screening.

  • The company pays for security clearance checks.
  • Annual leave starts at 21 days per year plus bank holidays, increasing to 30 days plus bank holidays after relevant service.
  • Individual rewards are based on (for example) successful completion of specialist training, long service and include cash bonuses and gift cards plus other rewards.
  • Engineer expenses float provided for overnight stays and out of pocket expenses.
  • Company van & fuel card.
  • Travel time paid for in full.
  • Some overtime available but this is not on a regular basis.
  • Call out payments.
  • Specialist tools & equipment provided as required.
  • Company laptop and mobile phone.
  • Onsite parking at the company premises.
