£35,000 per annum

Shift Pattern:40 hrs a week Monday - Friday

Information About the role:

Working as a Mental Health Act Administrator at Southern Hill you will be expected to:

  • To maintain and develop information systems and data management processes.
  • Ensuring the correct implementation of the Mental Health Act 1983; in relation to the legal paperwork for detained patients, making sure it is accurate and kept secure.
  • Being responsible for organisation and coordinating First Tier Tribunals, Section Renewal and Hospital Manager Appeal meetings for patients, including all related paperwork is prepared according to the guidelines pertaining to each.
  • Transcribing various reports, letters and other correspondence for the meetings if required.
  • Upholding confidentiality at all times, with particular reference to personal records of both employees and Service Users.
  • Acquiring and maintaining an indepth knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 and its provisions, the MHA 1983 Code of Practice and Company Policies and Procedures
  • Arrange assessments and coordinate patient admission, including funding from the responsible authority

Information about the Service:


Southern Hill Hospital has 44 mental health beds across four units, as well as a 5 bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

The Hospital is able to offer a 24 hour acute admission within a safe and secure environment.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • 4 GCSEs or equivalent (including English)
  • Word Processing qualification is desirable
  • IMHAP qualification or equivalent
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office preferred)
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended November 2007) and associated legislation
  • Experience in Medical Records administration in a mental health setting is desirable
  • Experience with administration/office systems
  • Full and clean UK driving license
  • Experience within a customerfacing role is desirable
