HGV Mechanic Position at Leading Entertainment and Sports Company

Location: Oxford

Overview: First Military Recruitment is collaborating with a top-notch entertainment and sports organization in the region, renowned for providing exceptional TV facilities and crew to major Broadcasters and Producers globally, to seek a skilled HGV Mechanic to join their dynamic team. They are in need of a proactive, dedicated, and team-focused HGV Mechanic to support the maintenance of their busy fleet operation. This role is based in the High Wycombe and Oxford area.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all vehicle and trailer servicing and repairs are completed accurately.
  • Properly fill out job sheets and other necessary documentation.
  • Perform welding and fabrication work if needed (training provided if necessary).
  • Identify and address component procurement needs.
  • Utilize workshop equipment appropriately.
  • Contribute to effective preventive maintenance.
  • Accurately document parts usage.
  • Ensure all work is done to high quality standards.
  • Prepare vehicles to meet annual test certificate standards.
  • Provide precise updates on work progress and promptly communicate any expected delays.
  • Stay updated on modern technologies relevant to the role.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards consistently.
  • Assist with other miscellaneous tasks as requested.

Skills and Experience:

  • IMI L3 Diploma in Heavy Vehicle Repair & Maintenance or equivalent.
  • Evidence of CPD (e.g. IRTEC).
  • Understanding of vehicle maintenance requirements and procedures.
  • Interest in learning about mechanics and related electrics.
  • Full UK Driving Licence C+E (Class 1) required.
  • Valid Drivers CPC card and Digital Tachograph card (renewed as needed).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in IT and software applications.
  • Open to additional training and upskilling.
  • Ability to safely handle and work with heavy equipment.
  • Capable of working independently or as part of a team.
  • Compliance with company and statutory processes, including H&S working practices.
  • Readiness to be flexible and work overtime or weekends when necessary.
