An exciting opportunity has arisen fora Senior Planner to join our team. To be considered, you will comefrom a Construction or Civil Engineering background.

The Senior Planner will manage the Planning and Programmingfunction in selected key bids in Tender, Preconstruction andconcluding in Construction, liaising internally with the Galldristeam, and externally with the Client, Consultants, and other KeyStakeholders to ultimately produce and manage well-considered,professional and accurate plans and programmes.

Key Accountabilities to include but not limited to:

As the Senior Planner you will proactively lead theplanning function on selected projects producing well-considered,professional, and achievable methodologies and programmes for bothPre-Construction and Construction activities.

Collaboratively create, maintain, review, and administerconstruction schedules and planning deliverables including planningphilosophy, presentations and reports. As the Senior Planner you willprovide technical assistance with planning and zoning activities,identifying planning scope, major constraints, and contractrequirements along with identifying major quantities and factorsaffecting the programme collaboratively with the team and supplychain.

You will establish the critical path of theprogramme. Review and analyse the critical path with the wider team asnecessary. Communicate effectively with key members of the teamthroughout the bid, tender, pre-construction and construction phases,seeking advice where appropriate.

  • Applying resource andresource levelling techniques as necessary
  • Present theproject programme and sequence in detail or high level as appropriate
  • Understand and implement the requirements of the buildingcontract(s) about submitting initial and updated programmes
  • Where necessary, provide periodic programme updates withappropriate supporting information to assist the delivery team inreporting
  • Liaise with Third Parties critical to the planningprocess (including but not limited to Statutory Authorities, UtilityProviders, Planning Authorities other Design Consultants) and ensuretheir requirements and contributions are understood and communicatedin the programme

In addition to the above,at the Contract stage the Senior Planner is accountable to the Head ofPlanning / Project Lead for:

  • Implementing and monitoringthe overall planning strategy and the timing & sequence of theContract Programme activities
  • Identify and alert the widerteam on any issues affecting the project programme delivery
  • The issue and communication of the Contract Programme to theProject Lead for the onward issue to Client and Project Team,including periodic progress reporting
  • Ensuring that all otherproject planning and programming necessary for the execution of thecontract is properly undertaken
  • Provide timely and accuratereports explaining the progress of work and critical issues in thedesign period, with a clear plan of action
  • Thinkscommercially, and focuses on activities that will deliver real valuefor the projects
  • Undertake other duties commensurate with thelevel of this position
  • Comply with Company policies &procedures

Experience/Knowledge:

Operational experience (site engineer/site agent) together withprevious experience in planning Civil / Infrastructure / Structureprojects. Proficiency in the use of planning techniques and therequired planning toolsets.

  • Forms of tender documents, contract documents andspecifications
  • Methods of planning, programming, and progressmonitoring
  • Risk and opportunity management with particularreference to planning programming
  • Events that initiate, andof the methods used to demonstrate, delay or change entitlement
  • Risk and opportunity management with particular reference toplanning/programming
  • An understanding of the constructionmarket, methods of construction, plant, equipment, and labourrequirements
  • In-depth understanding of the Planningrequirements of the JCT and NEC forms of Contract
  • Civils,Groundworks, Structures

Skills:

  • IT literate - Planning and Programming Software Proficientin the use of P6 and Asta Powerproject
  • Excellentcommunication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to dealwith clients & internal staff
  • Ability to work on owninitiative
  • Meticulous, organised, proactive with a positiveattitude and willingness to learn
  • Self-motivated andenthusiastic
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills

Qualifications:

  • Relevantexperience in the construction industry
  • RecognisedConstruction or technical discipline qualifications
