This is an exciting time for Social Work at Warwick with a decision to invest in new academic posts to support our growth ambitions.

Opportunities have arisen to join our dynamic Social Work team within the Centre for Lifelong Learning. We are seeking to recruit a permanent 1.0 FTE Teaching Fellow in Social Work.

We have a long-established history of delivering quality research-inspired social work education and continually strive to embrace pedagogical innovation and practice currency in our programmes. We are seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and committed individual who holds a professional qualification in social work, and eligibility for registration with Social Work England.

About You

The Social Work profession is continually changing and as such we require an exceptional person who can contribute to the Social Work portfolio and maintain our high standards of professional Social Work Education.

We are seeking a candidate who has experience of professional Social Work practice, knowledge of current developments in both the provision of Social Work services and Social Work education, and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people. The successful candidate will make a significant contribution, in the first instance, to our Degree Apprenticeship in Social Work.

We particularly welcome applicants with relevant practice experience and the ability to teach Adult or Children's Social Work. You will have excellent organisational and communication skills and will be required to contribute to course management and academic administrative duties.

You will have a demonstrable commitment to developing excellence in teaching and scholarship. You will be expected to promote and represent the University and the discipline regionally and nationally.

We are looking for a committed team player to join our friendly team with evidence of developing academic ability. Your ongoing development will be important to us, and you will have the opportunity to work closely with the Course Director for Social Work to enhance your potential and achieve your aims.

About the Department

For more than 30 years the Centre for Lifelong Learning has been a centre of expertise in the education of lifelong learners in different contexts, with a focus on enabling adult learners to achieve their personal and professional goals by accessing a Warwick education, irrespective of background.

The Centre offers a range of courses to help adult learners progress in their chosen career. Within CLL and at Warwick we have a long-established history of delivering quality research-inspired social work education and continually strive to embrace pedagogical innovation and practice currency in our programmes.

There is a long and well-regarded history of social work education at the University of Warwick, characterised by a commitment to critical forms of social work practice. Our Apprenticeship Degree has been running since March 2019, and we are part of the West Midlands Teaching Partnership. The placement of our professional programmes in the Centre for Lifelong Learning also provides exciting opportunities to develop Continuing Professional Development opportunities in a cross-disciplinary context.   • Excellence in teaching and research, with a clear foundation in a social and health science knowledge- base Inter-disciplinarity and inter-professional learning.

  • Partnership and collaboration with social work and social care agencies and other HE providers in the region Involving practitioners as teachers, learners, and researchers.
  • Giving a voice to service users, for example using participatory research methods with hidden, silenced, and marginalised groups in society.
  • Involving service users as experts by experience in teaching and assessment.
  • The enhancement of public and not-for-profit social and health care services by high quality teaching and research.
  • An underlying commitment to forms of social work practice that challenge social inequalities and promotes social justice.
