THE ROLE:


We are looking for a Clinical Night Shift Worker to join our Clinic department where you will be responsible for performing study specific ward procedure's on clinical trials that are conducted in our Clinical Pharmacology Unit (CPU).

This will also include sample processing and assisting with the upkeep of study documentation.

You will report into the Clinical Operations Coordinator and will work closely with all members of the clinical team to ensure study deliverables are met and maintained to the highest standard.

We will require someone to cover night shifts from 20:30 to 08:30 on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Undertake basic observation of volunteers in terms of their vital signs and to perform ECG's and other routine tests e.g. Spirometry as per protocol requirements.
  • Undertake the collection of urine and other biological samples such as blood samples, etc from volunteers as per protocol requirements and ensure that the biological samples are disposed of in the correct manner.
  • Assist Sample Coordinator with the handling and processing of biological samples in the Sample Preparation Room when required.
  • Maintain the health and safety of volunteers and report the occurrence of adverse events to a Research Physician and the team supervisor to document for shift changeovers.
  • Keep up to date with any changes in GCP or current working practices and ensure training records are kept up to date
  • Enter study data on various computerised databases as required and keep up to date with procedure updates, and training in the use of these systems.
  • Check and maintain the rapid resuscitation bag, emergency trolley and all emergency equipment, and to check the nurse call alarm system including emergency pagers, ensuring that the appropriate logs are updated.
  • Attend regular training sessions in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

ESSENTIAL
- _ Minimum of 1 A-Level in Life Sciences or NVQ-2 Health and Social Care (equal to Band 2 Auxiliary Nurse qualification)_
- _ Excellent organisation and time management skills with the ability to think logically and solve problems._
- _ Proficient people skills: positive interactions with colleagues, volunteers/patients and sponsors where required_
- _ Meticulous attention to detail and ability to continuously produce work of a high-quality standard_
- _ Competent computer skills_
- _ English language - fluent, written and spoken, Excellent communication skills, written, aural and oral_

DESIRABLE
- _ Degree or equivalent level qualification in life sciences_
- _ Experience working in an experimental/investigational environment_
- _ Experience of working independently and as part of a large team_
- _ Minimum of Basic Life Support training_
- _ Current knowledge of ICH GCP guidelines_
