Here at Peabody, we have an opportunity for a
Housing Support Worker (Female Only Scheme) on a Permanent basis at one of our homeless schemes based in Islington.


At this scheme we focus our support on women who are experiencing multiple disadvantages or have had traumatic experiences and domestic violence.


  • The scheme is _close to Highbury and Islington tube and overground station. It is a 9bedroom shared residential scheme.
  • We are looking for _
    _female applicants __only for this role as it is an allwomen's service. The Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1, Paragraph 1 applies to this post._

What we're looking for:

  • Have you got the life skills and experience it takes to support our homeless customers in their journey towards independent living?
  • Are you an enthusiastic support worker with a strong desire to work with vulnerable and complex adults to achieve positive outcomes?
  • Can you work just as effectively as part of a team as you can by yourself?
  • Do you have great IT (Word//Excel) and communication skills with a knack for creating good professional working relationships?

A bit about the role:


As a
Housing Support Worker (Female Only Scheme), you will be working with a team of_ highly_ motivated _compassionate_, and _dedicated colleagues_ supporting a caseload of customers who are vulnerable women.

You will need to meet with each customer weekly to help them with their_ goals _and discuss their _progress_.

And, when someone's ready to move on, we will rely on you to _help _them access the _housing register or look for suitable rented accommodation.

Relevant experience would be an advantage, as would an understanding of safeguarding and knowledge of the benefit system.


But just as important may well be skills and knowledge which you have in other areas which you can share to foster positive experiences for our customers with _energy_ and_ enthusiasm_ whilst being_ kind _and _empathic.

Some of the key results for the role include:

  • Supporting customers to access housing.
  • Helping our customers to understand housing benefits available to them.
  • Ensuring our customers live in a safe and secure environment.
  • Undertaking health and safety assessments.
  • Completing risk assessments.
  • This role will require an Enhanced DBS check and you must be able available to work shifts which include morning, afternoon, and evening hours with some weekends. _
