Job Overview
We're looking for an experienced Buyer to manage a portfolio of Direct and Indirect commodities based at our Group's headquarters in Belton, Grantham.
Working as a key part of the Supply Chain team, the role is to ensure we get excellent Total Cost of Acquisition whilst ensuring flow through the Supply Chain and across the group.
You will be integral in creating Commodity Strategy's to support both business growth and cost down initiatives.
The successful individual will need to have strong negotiation and IT skills, as well as able to work well under pressure to meet deadlines and be able to prioritize workload both individually and for the team.
Purpose:
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Development and implementation of commodity strategies
- Produce purchase orders from both purchase requisitions and MRP demand, liaise with the supplier base and expedite in line with the needs of the business.
- Line management of Junior Buyer
- Proactively manage own inventory levels and oversee VMI / consignment stock profiles across all sites.
- Promote excellent communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Run tender processes and initiate and implement supply agreements.
- Ensure MRP and system data is accurate and managed.
- Identify and instigate cost savings and negotiate most advantageous commercial terms to the
- Ensure stock control decisions regarding deliveries are compatible with usage requirement, minimum order quantities and commercial guidelines.
- Work to build strong relationships with suppliers and monitor their performance in line with agreed metrics.
- Investigate and resolve invoice queries relating to purchases and ensure a satisfactory resolution both parties.
- Ensure system data is accurate and managed.
You will have the following.
- Minimum of 3 years buying experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Commercially minded with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to analyse and interrogate data, including strong Excel skills.
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written in dealing with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and ability to interface with customers when required.
- Ability to follow processes but also the aptitude to handle ambiguity and uncertainty.
- Excellent team working skills but also good at managing own specific workload.
- An organised and methodical approach to problem solving and finding resolutions.
- CIPS preferred but not essential.
Agency support is not required for this role.
