About the role and our team
Join our team as an Operational Support Grade at the Isle of Man Prison


This role offers you great variety, where no two days are the same and the chance to work in a Prison environment.


Within this role, you'll ensure that Gate and Control Room functions and procedures are correctly followed and assist in the maintenance of security, order and control within the prison.


Your main duties will include:

  • Escorting contractors around the Prison
  • Processing all post
  • Carrying out searches of vehicles for escape and contraband risks
  • Taking bookings for visitors and recording all staff/visitor movements in and out of the Prison, using our IT system and CCTV


We are looking for someone with great interpersonal and communication skills, and a personable demeanour, to be part of our friendly team, who work closely together to maintain a flexible working environment.

You will receive full training over a 4 week period, which will take place at the Prison.

Please note an Enhanced with barring police check is required for this post,
which the Department will cover the cost of for you.

Please note if you have lived for more than 6 months outside of the UK in the last 5 years, you will be required to obtain a Letter of Good Standing from the appropriate authorities in the relevant locations, please read the guidance about how to obtain this letter.

A driving licence and access to your own vehicle are required for this role. A uniform will also be provided.

A relocation package and interview expenses are not available for this role.
