We are recruiting for a Software Developer to join our Application Development team, on a 9-month fixed-term contract, working full-time at our Swindon offices located on key transport links in the town centre.
About the roleResponsible for the development and delivery of bespoke software solutions for BCS that include customer facing web applications and back office administration systems.
This includes specification, development, testing, implementation and ongoing maintenance for bespoke applications and services.Key responsibilities:
Develops software solutions against business requirements including design artefacts (wireframes and prototypes), user stories, functional specifications and technical specifications.
In an agile environment discusses with all relevant parties, understands and applies coverage of user stories and their acceptance criteria to software solutions.
Works closely with Software Testers to understand and isolate issues that arise. Provide Software Testers with technical knowledge of system implementations as required.Works with suppliers, partners and other third parties to develop, understand or implement technical specifications for APIs\web services.
Works in accordance with BCS development methodology and best practices to plan, schedule and deliver all tasks as assigned.
Provides good quality and accurate task estimates to management for upcoming development projects based on their requirements.Responsible for the management and maintenance of source control, build\deploy, and bug tracking systems.
Responsible for third line support of bespoke applications including development, promoting business changes, incident\problem identification and resolution. Determines impact of incidents\problems and prioritises the required work appropriately.
Ensures conformance\alignment with software development industry standards and legal requirements.
Flexibility is required of all job holders to adjust responsibilities as required from time to time by their Line Manager/Divisional Director.
The content and reporting lines detailed in this job description may be reviewed and changed from time to time to reflect organisational requirements.

HND or Degree in IT/Computing subject or equivalent in experience.
Professional membership of BCS – MBCS.
ITIL Foundation in Service Management.
ISEB Foundation in Software Testing.
ISEB Foundation in Development and Delivery.
Demonstrable experience of .Net development.
Demonstrable experience of working with users\business stakeholder to define software requirements.
Demonstrable experience of working with 3rd parties, suppliers, contractors etc.
Significant experience in an agile development environment using Scrum and\or other methods.
Self starter - able to hit the ground running and quickly take on a busy workload.
Capable of communicating at all levels, verbal and written, internally and externally.
Well organised and capable of managing own time efficiently and effectively.
Self motivated and prepared to take decisions based on own initiative.
Demonstrable detailed knowledge and experience in the following:

SQL Server 2012+
HTML/CSS
