Join our dynamic team at Heartlands as a Mechanical Supervisor Lead our dedicated trade staff in maintaining a wide array of engineering plant, equipment, and services. With us, you'll ensure top-notch standards of productivity and quality, all while adhering to statutory requirements and Trust safety protocols.

Plus, get involved in upcoming developments within our area We are currently in the process of a multi million pound project which is part of the Trusts carbon reduction plan which is to de steam the entire site and it will be running on a District Heating system

Your role isn't just about overseeing; you'll actively troubleshoot complex systems, conduct commissioning tests, and ensure compliance with national Codes of Practice.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

Lead our Mechanical trade staff with confidence and expertise, ensuring their day-to-day tasks are performed to the highest standards. From line management to coordinating activities, your role is pivotal in maintaining discipline, welfare, and adherence to Trust policies. You'll issue and manage maintenance programs, ensuring productivity and quality meet statutory requirements & safety standards. Working autonomously, you'll tackle repairs, improvements, and capital projects across the Trust. Stay ahead of the curve by undergoing training on new practices and equipment, ensuring your team is equipped for success. Efficiently manage resources and liaise with suppliers for equipment breakdowns. Being on-call is part of the job, ensuring prompt responses to emergencies outside normal hours. Embrace overtime opportunities for additional repairs or maintenance. Key responsibilities include: Fulfilling work activities as directed by the Mechanical Officer. Adhering to Trust procedures. Troubleshooting complex systems and equipment, including steam, heating, ventilation and medical gas. Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and codes of practice. Ordering replacement parts and issuing work to staff. Providing training and support to trade staff. Documenting and reporting accidents, incidents, and irregularities as per Trust policy. You'll also undertake additional duties as necessary to achieve the Trust's objectives.

Person specification Qualifications Essential

Relevant GCSE Qualifications or A/O Level equivalent

Qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering AND BTEC/HNC in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering, or applicable equivalent.

Qualified and Experienced as an Appointed Person for High Voltage and Low Voltage Electrical systems.

Desirable

Post qualification training in a broad range of related specialist competencies.

Experience Essential

Completion of a structured training program in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or applicable equivalent for a minimum of 3 years, at least 2 years post training site experience, at least 3 years management experience in a similar position and background in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, equipment or Building services or applicable equivalent installation, alteration, maintenance, fault finding and project management.

Desirable

Previous experience of working in an acute Hospital environment

Additional Criteria Essential

Good leadership, fault diagnosis, keyboard and communication skills.

Ability to work without supervision.

Adaptable to change.

Capable of working in a demand driven service

Ability to produce reports and communicate with senior manager

Working to deadlines.

Knowledge of sound engineering practice.

Proficient ICT skills to include.

Knowledge of specialist systems including but not exclusively, BEMS, Security, Door Access, CCTV, Nurse call, RFID, Networking for example

Technical Standards i.e. HTM, British Standards, H&S.

Available for on-call duties.

Available for undertaking overtime.

Punctual and reliable.

Ability to communicate at all levels.
