JOB DESCRIPTION
The objective of this position is to provide support and assistance to the Head of Department in carrying out technical duties and maintenance as directed within the building.
The principal responsibilities can be summarised as follows:
- As a member of the Technical department, providing support for all productions, whether a visiting company or an inhouse production, in the Millennium Forum main auditorium duties will include:
- Working on get-ins, fit-ups and get-outs unloading and loading trucks including occasional removal and re-installing of auditorium stalls seating.
- Preparation and rigging of stage sets & equipment, props and stage resources
- Preparation and rigging of lighting and sound
- Crewing performances including operating spotlights occasionally.
- Occasional set maintenance
ROLE
- To represent the company's high standards of personal presentation and behavior at all times during a shift.

- To welcome cast/ crew in a friendly and accommodating manner, making a great first impression.
- To exceed cast/ crew expectations in a professional, knowledgeable and accommodating manner.
- To bring a positive attitude to teamwork, contributing to the smooth running of back stage area and interacting productively with other departments.
- To maintain the standards and culture of the team by setting an example to new members of staff and assisting in their training when required.
- On occasion you may be required to work offsite carrying out duties as setout by the company and production team

- Technical Manager
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- To ensure that a high level of service is delivered to all visiting companies, cast, crew and local community group users, consistently achieving or exceeding the required standards.
- To be responsible for "getins" or "outs", stage safety, manual handling, and efficient working routines.
- To prepare the back stage area for events and performance, following established jobs lists and as directed by the technical manager/ duty technician
- To ensure that a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness is maintained by following cleaning routines and through ongoing diligence during the shift.
- To observe and understand the company's fire plan and health and safety policy.
- To ensure the safe and efficient loading / unloading of scenery, electrics, wardrobe wagons etc. as required.
- To rig and construct stage sets, flooring, electrics, flying bars etc. in an accurate and timely fashion
- To ensure any production equipment is set up, checked and working as per the production schedule and that all such equipment and methods of working conform to industry standard
- To move and fix production scenery as required
- To remove and replace seating to suit performance requirements (including for access patrons)
- To be responsible for personal safety and to ensure that safe working practices are adopted at all times
- To appear on stage, when required, in appropriate clothing / costume to carry out specific cues
- To derig set, staging and electrics in a practical, safe and timely manner.
- To assist other departments as per operational requirements, as directed by Technical Manager.
- To cooperate with the visiting company crew and following instructions given by the Production Manager.
- To work safely, unsupervised to ensure the best delivery of service.
- Applies to all inhouse performances, events, as well as a small number of external engagements as required.
