Housing Standards Intelligence Officer

Derby, Derby, United Kingdom Derby City Council Full time

Directorate: Place
Hours: 37 hours a week
Contract Type: Fixed Term until March 2025
Location: The Council House/Home Working

Excellent work life balance scheme
Derby City Council have received additional funding to continue our Proactive 'Six Streets' Project across the City and are looking to employ additional staff in this holistic approach team to deliver the outcomes.
We are offering a fantastic opportunity to join our friendly and supportive, Housing Standards Team where you can use your experience and skills to make a real difference.
You will take an active role in gathering 'intelligence' helping to detect, monitor, plan and assist interventions under the Housing Act 2004 and associated legislation. The team works closely with a range of other law enforcement agencies creating a 'big picture' response to illegal activity in private rented housing.
The role:
Day to day the role will entail enhancing our intelligence gathering; ensuring robust processes are in place; identifying and researching problematic landlords, property managers and letting agents operating within Derby; and liaising with Intelligence counterparts within other teams and agencies.
About you:
The successful candidates will be confident with excellent practical enforcement and organisational skills. As Derby City has a wide and diverse population, you must have good communication and negotiation skills as you will be dealing with a mixed audience of residents, landlords, partner agencies and other stakeholders. It is essential you possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to demonstrate the ability to maintain clear and accurate records.
You will have a demonstrable experience in research and analysis, ideally in the field of law enforcement, and be able to turn that Intelligence into operational direction and support for our Housing Standards law enforcement activities and proactive project work.
You will need:
1. Educated to A Level or equivalent
2. An understanding of intelligence management and the role of intelligence in the investigative process.
3. Good knowledge of local government, the inter-relationship between the different services and their contribution to improving private sector housing
4. A full driving licence and use of a car

If you would like to join our friendly team and be at the cutting edge of housing enforcement, we would be delighted to hear from you.
