Type - Permanent - Full-time
We are currently recruiting for a Shipping Clerk with Import/Export experience to join our client's growing business in Birmingham.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quoting for shipping and customs costs.
- Setting up new customers.
- Completing paperwork for export.
- Arranging clearance of incoming and outgoing international orders.
- Liaising with other departments.
- Port health checks.
- Invoice shipment.
- Export bookings with international/national agents; sea freight carriers.
- Investigating, quoting & planning the most appropriate route for a shipment considering the nature of goods, cost, transit time and security.
- Obtaining & checking documentation to meet customs, packing specifications, and compliance with other countries' regulations. Obtaining information to compete customs declarations in the UK.
- Utilise internet technology to support customer tracking of goods whilst maintaining communication and control through all phases of the journey.
Skills & Experience:
- Import and export experience including "postBrexit".
- Previous experience and working knowledge of Export operations and main transport methods
- Knowledge of shipping processes and documentation for both imports and exports.
- A full understanding of Import and Export legislation.
- Proven problem solver, with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
