We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic, flexible, resourceful support worker with great people skills to join our dynamic team at Sleapcross House, supported housing for adults with mental health issues._

This is an exciting, challenging and rewarding position which will also give you the opportunity to take full advantage of training and development provided. Experience is preferred but not essential._

Sleapcross House Ltd provides a service of support that is personalised for each service user.

Duties include assisting the service user with a variety of duties, and in doing so the support worker will observe and respect the service user's dignity, privacy and independence as far as is practical.


Principal responsibilities - Support Worker

  • To provide support for service users with mental health problems
  • To support & prompt service users with getting up in the morning, dressing appropriately in accordance with the weather, washing and getting showered.
  • To observe service users taking their medication at their prescribed times
    and to monitor service users who self-medicate to ensure they are compliant.
  • Review service users support plans and risk assessments in line with company policy.
  • To help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of service users through talking to them, occasionally taking them out, supporting & encouraging them in their activities and daily living skills whilst promoting their independence wherever possible.
  • To support service users in making their beds; tidy their rooms; cleaning of their communal areas
  • To assist and support service users in doing their laundry and ironing and putting away their clothes.
  • To Support and assist service users in preparing their own meals and to promote and encourage healthy eating through menu planning, nutritional advice bespoke to each service user where necessary.

9. To support the service user in organising and buying their food provisions. Help and advice in decision making when required

  • To conform to all policies, procedures and guidelines laid down by Sleapcross House Ltd in respect of carrying out these support worker duties and in other administrative aspects. To carry out accurately, and in a competent manner, instructions from managers, adhering to the support plans of individual service users.
  • To actively talk and listen to service users, allowing for their personal choice in their own home.
  • To maintain accurate, concise, up-to-date and timely documentation of the service user's daily contact book, appointments, MAR sheets & financial transaction book where applicable.

To be considerate in respect of written comments made in the daily contact book so as not to unduly or unintentionally offend or upset the service user as they and their family/representatives are entitled to read the reports.


  • To return all relevant paperwork to the office where deemed necessary by the company.
  • To document each shift in the duty hour's book. Detailing tasks undertaken, any changes which have occurred and other relevant information. To write clearly, showing accurate time of arrival and time of leaving, with accompanying date and signature.
  • To work only within Sleapcross House Ltd's regulations regarding the handling of service users' finances, ensuring accurate documentation and receipting of any transactions.
  • To be familiar with Sleapcross House Ltd's Health and Safety Policy and to promote safe working practices. To ensure full compliance with infection control procedures following company policy.
  • To report and record any accident or incident which may occur - no matter how minor, whether to the service user or support worker.
  • To report back to the manager(s) on any aspect of the service user's wellbeing which, in the view of the support worker, warrants investigation or urgent action.
  • To report immediately to management any noticeable changes in health, behaviour or circumstances of service users - maintaining the service user's right to privacy and confidentiality.
  • To advise the manager(s) of any perceived problems or difficulties experienced with the service provided to service users.
  • To advise the manager(s) of any ideas which might enhance or improve the level of service delivered to service users.
  • To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.
  • To participate in induction and foundation training and regular training programmes as directed by managers.
