Job Details

• Drive a NON LGV mechanical sweeper vehicle for the efficient completion of daily street cleansing quotas, using the Whitespace program on a mobile device. Training provided at induction.
• Inspect public roads and open spaces to determine servicing needs, meeting required standards.
• Utilize mechanical sweeper to clean litter, animal waste, and debris from pavements and gulley's.
• Operate tools and equipment, clean vehicle interior and exterior, and perform routine checks.
• Perform general laboring tasks, including snow clearing and salt spreading.
• Follow health and safety protocols, participate in training, and complete paperwork.
• Assist in addressing complaints and maintain a positive image of the council and services.
• Fill in as a Street Cleansing Operative when necessary.

The Person

• Hold a full UK driving license with C1 entitlement, valid DQC, and Driver Card.
• Provide evidence of recent training, adhere to regulations and procedures, and ideally have experience with mechanical sweepers.
• Physically capable of walking long distances, working outdoors in all weather conditions, and carrying out various tasks efficiently.
• Effective verbal communication, problem-solving skills, and ability to work well in a team.
• Encouraging applications from women to increase representation in this area of work.
