Experienced General Labourer for Heritage Building Company - Shepton Mallet, Somerset
Lime Repair Ltd is a building company specialising in the repair of heritage buildings using traditional materials. We often work on very old buildings and you will experience historic construction methods. This is an exciting opportunity to work with experienced craftsmen and women in the heritage sector.
Your duties will include:
Mixing mortars and plasters, cleaning buckets, equipment and hand tools. Keeping your mixing area, the scaffolding and the general site swept and tidy at all times. You will keep the building materials in order and protected where necessary. You will be fetching and carrying, barrowing, hacking off and raking out. You will assist our construction and plastering teams.
You will need to be experienced at working on a building site and aware of Health & Safety requirements. We will provide training on historic building materials.
You will be:
- Hardworking, enthusiastic and honest.
- Have some experience working as a builder's labourer on a building site, and able to make a mix.
- Happy to take instructions and work as part of any of our teams.
- You will need to be fit and strong because the work is very physical.
- You will have an interest in construction methods and you must be prepared to learn.
- Relatively local to Shepton Mallet due to travelling in works van with other team leader.
- Preferably have a driving license and be a car owner but this is not essential if you are local to Shepton Mallet. We work within Somerset and some of our jobs are a good distance away. We reimburse mileage over 20 miles drive each day if you use your own transport.
You will be employed initially on a Zero Hours contract, accruing statutory holiday pay on hours worked and entitled to join our Pension Scheme.
