Our local authority client has a 3-month contract vacancy (with the possibility of extension) for the role of a HIGHWAYS INSPECTOR (MAINTENANCE), details as follows

Job Purpose


We are looking for a highway maintenance officer to help develop maintenance works programmes and assist and implement small scale highway and drainage repairs.


Responsibilities

  • Proactively deliver the element of the service in all aspects of successful project delivery
  • To act as a supporting member of the team within the identified field of the job description e.g. drainage, trees, bridges etc.
  • Maintaining excellent, effective working relationships with stakeholders and operational teams.
  • Manage own workload and the resources required to ensure successful project delivery.
  • To assume direct responsibility for budget monitoring (Grade 9 only).
  • Promote a strong customer service focus within the Service and where possible take account of customer requirements.
  • Promote and deliver improved communication with individual residents, communities, other local authorities and key stakeholders, in ways that are clear, coherent and jargon free.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience of working within the specified area of expertise.
  • Knowledge of the latest legislative requirements as they relate to the identified specialist field.
  • Education to level 4 NVQ or equivalent in a related discipline or experience of working in a local government environment for a period of 5 years
  • Appropriate specific technical qualifications related to the service such as monitoring street works or an arboricultural qualification (not an exhaustive list)
  • Experience of managing schemes and projects
