Salary & Package:

GBP 13.00 per hour for 165 hours per month = GBP 2,145.00 per month

Sleep in allowance addition to basic above at GBP 60 per sleep.

Purpose

  • To provide high quality care to the children and young people as part of Acorns to Oaks Children's care and support.
  • Act as a leader, role model and coordinator of shifts
  • To understand and contribute to the children and young people's daily plans ensuring that their basic needs are met
  • To support the staff team to make decisions that are always in the best interests of the children and young people and the organisation
  • To provide direction and challenge poor practice
  • To be actively monitoring and providing feedback to individuals.
  • To be alert to signs of distress, neglect, or abuse, ensuring that the children and young people are monitored and protected.
  • To know, understand and role model Acorns to Oaks cultural and behavioural expectations.

Key Activities

  • To act in a manner that is always befitting of Acorns to Oaks as provider of children's services and in line with the Company values and ethos.
  • To comply inline with legislation and quality standards at all times.
  • To communicate effectively with the staff team about regulatory requirements to support the homes delivery of highquality care.
  • To demonstrate the ability to accurately communicate the children and young people's needs as identified in their plans to other professionals
  • To be accountable for the monitoring of all paperwork, actively monitoring quality and providing frequent feedback to staff in this regard.
  • To utilise the companies whistle blowing policy to ensure that poor practice and dishonesty is dealt with appropriately
  • Carry out tasks and maintain all relevant records pertaining to fire safety, health & safety and other records as directed by the line manager
  • To implement all learning regarding training on a daily basis, providing guidance to colleagues and challenging poor practice of others
  • Provide direction to colleagues to ensure all the basic physical needs of the children and young people are met daily and that accurate records of children and young people are kept in line with the organisational systems
  • Be mindful of race, culture, language, and religion, to ensure that every child/young person is treated fairly and as an individual entitled to respect and dignity.
  • Be sensitive to the needs of individual children and young people and provide support and comfort to young people under stress, providing direction in this regard
  • Develop and implement daily shift planners and weekly planners for children and young people to ensure the smooth running of shifts.
  • To take the lead and work with internal and external services and professionals to ensure continuity of care for children and young people, maintaining professional relationships with young people, individuals with parent responsibility, social workers, teaching staff and other professionals involved in the care of children and young people; attending meetings as required.

  • To take the lead in the creation and maintenance of a caring homely environment, taking into account the children and young people's preferences
  • To ensure own and others continuing vigilance when supervising children and young people in line with risk assessments to ensure that significant behaviours are noted, recorded and responded to appropriately.
  • Be accountable to the homes petty cash and ensure financial systems and processes are followed correctly, providing direction to colleagues and challenging poor practice in this regard.
  • To carry out tasks and maintain all relevant records pertaining to Health & Safety and other records as directed by your line manager providing direction to colleagues in this regard
  • Where requested carry out quality assurance process, inclusive of Regulation 45 reports and responding to Regulation 44 reports.
  • To actively monitor working practices of the home and provide feedback to staff regarding quality and standards.
