Investment Associate Consultant - Bristol

Do you want an investment consulting role advising institutional clients supported by Aon's breadth of specialist knowledge and expertise? Would you enjoy being part of a diverse team focused on driving positive outcomes for both clients and colleagues? If you're passionate about joining an innovative and market leading business, then read on

This is a hybrid working role with flexibility to work both virtually and from a range of Aon office locations

Aon is in the business of better decisions

At Aon, we shape decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world.

As an organization, we are united through trust as one inclusive, diverse team, and we are passionate about helping our colleagues and clients succeed.

What the day will look like

As an Investment Consultant you will lead smaller client relationships and act as a support consultant for medium to large clients, overseeing the day-to-day deliverables and junior support team. You will deliver advice predominantly to defined benefit pension schemes but also endowments, charities, and other institutional clients. Given the breadth of capability at Aon, you will be supported by a team of dedicated client-facing colleagues as well as expertise from our many specialist teams such as risk & modelling, investment manager research, asset allocation and more.

Your day-to-day focus will include:

  • Working with Lead Consultants to build relationships with clients, as well as understand and solve the challenges they face
  • Driving business results through efficient delivery of client service and connecting and working with colleagues across Aon's specialist teams
  • Identifying opportunities to innovate and drive efficiency
  • Developing junior colleagues into future consultants
  • Promoting an inclusive culture across Aon

How this opportunity is different

At Aon, the opportunity is much wider than just the local consulting team. You'll quickly build a network across different offices, business areas and Aon teams, working with a variety of clients. With a persistently developing investment backdrop, we quickly allocate teams and dedicate resource to respond to market developments, providing a vast array of opportunities for consultants to specialise and create their own role within the business. A great example is the rapid development and growth of our Responsible Investment capability over recent years.

Aon has a wealth of market-leading specialists prepared to support you in your role, producing thought-provoking content and assisting with the delivery of bespoke advice to clients. Continued investment in our infrastructure and systems that support our 50,000 strong global workforce ensures you can efficiently manage your time to drive value and business results.

There is a strong focus on sharing of ideas and working as a team within the UK investment team and more broadly across Aon. During each week there are multiple department wide video conference calls keeping consultants up to date on latest business results, ideas from specialist teams and opportunities for colleagues to put themselves forward to support new initiatives.

Recent joiner from a competitor: "At my previous company we had one person responsible for the vast majority of thought leadership and market updates. My mind was blown when I learned that at Aon we have dedicated teams of economists, risk settlement experts, a Responsible Investment team, and more. As well as making us so much more dynamic when responding or anticipating market or industry events, it also gives colleagues great opportunities to specialise in different emerging areas."

Skills and experience that will lead to success

We're looking for individuals with:

  • Strong experience of managing relationships with clients
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to distil complex information
  • Ability to manage small teams of colleagues and delegate effectively
  • Knowledge of investment markets and UK pension schemes (preferred);
  • A desire for new challenges

How we support our colleagues

In addition to our comprehensive benefits package, we encourage a diverse workforce. Plus, our agile, inclusive environment allows you to manage your wellbeing and work/life balance, ensuring you can be your best self at Aon. Furthermore, all colleagues enjoy two "Global Wellbeing Days" each year, encouraging you to take time to focus on yourself. We offer a variety of working style solutions, but we also recognise that flexibility goes beyond just the place of work... and we are all for it. We call this Smart Working

Our continuous learning culture inspires and equips you to learn, share and grow, helping you achieve your fullest potential. As a result, at Aon, you are more connected, more relevant, and more valued.

We provide individuals with disabilities reasonable accommodations to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment in accordance with applicable law. Please contact us to request an accommodation

Aon values an innovative, diverse workplace where all colleagues feel empowered to be their authentic selves. Aon is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
