Working in our growing Innovation function that bridges commercial, technology and manufacturing with a fascinating product set, the Graduate Market Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for collating information from the wider business and external sources that will support our product and strategy decisions.

The successful candidate will work alongside our Product Manager and Head of Data Science to create and deliver insightful reports and presentations that provide and maintain a comprehensive picture of our customers, competitors and wider technological evolution. You will also build market insights to identify trends, risks and opportunities.

As a Graduate, we understand that you will not have the relevant skills and experience right away. To support you as you start in your new role, we will provide comprehensive training and development that will build up your knowledge and skills. You will also collaborate with experienced members of the team and gain hands-on experience to ensure that you have the tools to be successful.

Key Responsibilities

With support and guidance, you will build your capability to deliver the following activities:

Market Insight

  • Maintain understanding of the banknote industry, staying abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies and competitive tactics
  • Gather, evaluate and visualise customer insight such as customer news, segment trends etc.
  • Collect and monitor competitive intelligence and analyse, including financials, performance, activities, product offering and capabilities
  • Maintain a view on competitor pricing, costs and differentiation and benchmark De La Rue against them
  • Interpret data within the context of the business environment – connect the dots between various pieces of information to foresee challenges and identify opportunities

Proposition and Product Information

  • Assessing and documenting our market position relative to our key competitors, with support materials for Sales such as competitor and technology/feature battlecards
  • Evaluate the market potential and alignment of the current product portfolio, using knowledge of technical, product, customer and competitor trends
  • Support the Product Manager with information to identify product positioning and pricing

Contract type: Permanent

Working hours: Full Time – 36.5 hrs per week

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

It is recognised that candidates are unlikely to demonstrate relevant experience, but should be able to show the following skills in their studies and wider activities to date:

  • Demonstrates critical thinking, with a methodical approach to gathering and sharing insight
  • Show a curiosity and thirst for knowledge, able to absorb and stay abreast with a broad range of industry trends, market dynamics, and emerging technologies
  • Have a keen analytical mindset with the skills to gather, assess, and interpret data from various sources
  • Strong verbal and written communicator, able to consolidate information to the core of the matter and convey in a clear, concise manner to diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrate proficiency in data analysis tools, ideally with strong Excel, Power BI (or equivalent) and data visualisation skills
  • Have a degree or modules in a subject that demonstrates the ability to analyse and interpret information
