Job Description

This Vet role at APHA involves:

  • Conducting disease investigations in farm animals and wildlife including post-mortems and diagnostic sampling
  • Obtaining history for disease surveillance
  • Using laboratory testing for diagnosis
  • Collating and discussing findings with clients
  • Providing disease control advice
  • Investigating new diseases and potential threats
  • Engaging with industry stakeholders
  • Conducting surveillance for notifiable diseases

Person Specification

  • Knowledge of UK farming industry
  • Interest in diagnostic pathology
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to produce veterinary reports
  • Quality assurance for scientific evidence
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills

Licences & Qualifications

Valid UK Driving Licence and a degree in Veterinary Medicine recognized in the UK. Proficiency in English is required.

Memberships

Registration with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons is necessary.
