We are looking to appoint an outstanding individual to join us at Cheadle Hulme School as a Temporary Head of or Teacher of Geography from September 2024.

In the role of Teacher of Geography you will be responsible for the teaching of Geography throughout the Senior School.

Members in the department will teach a range of year groups from 7-11 with potential to teach to A Level too.

Currently, Years 8, 9, 10, 11 and Lower Sixth have field trips which contribute to their learning in the classroom.

As part of your role, you would be expected to provide feedback to pupils and families via Parent's Evenings, Written Reports and Grades, as directed by the Reporting and Assessment schedule.

Attend and contribute to Department meetings and create a safe, positive and disciplined learning environment, where mutual respect and understanding are valued.


As a Head of Geography in addition you will lead on the strategic development of the academic curriculum for Geography, ensuring that the department performs to the highest levels possible.

This will involve, planning and preparing weekly departmental meetings, providing opportunities for collaboration, reflection and discussion.

Ensure accountability of all teaching staff within the department with regard to their teaching through a programme of learning walks, work sampling and use of the Professional Development Plan process.

To enable teaching staff to oversee student working habits and attainment, identify when intervention is required and plan for the needs of the students in their teaching groups.

You will also be responsible for risk assessments for field trips taking place across the year.

The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a lively and thriving department staffed by four committed subject specialists. They will aim to inform,excite and energise students with a passion for explaining everything that is outside their windows.
