We are looking for a Kennel Supervisor to join our Gold Standard Security Service and play a crucial role to the business requiring animal handling and training skills, patience, resilience, alertness, and organisational skills. Due to the nature of the role and its high-profile locations, it is essential our Kennel Supervisors have strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, excellent communication and inter-personal skills, and the ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations. We are looking for individuals who are willing to go above and beyond to support security operations across the Defence estate. This is a shift working position at 48 hours per week including a daily meal break (43 hours net). The�successful candidate will be expected to work nights, weekends, bank holidays etc�as stipulated by the shift pattern agreed at the Unit depending on site requirements. This will include being rostered in a flexible manner (termed a flexible week) within the shift roster. During the flexible week, the working days and shifts will routinely be stipulated in advance but may be changed at short notice, (this should be no less than 48 hours).�The exact shift pattern will be explained in full during the interview.

The Ministry of Defence Guard Service (MGS) provides high quality security services at over 170 MOD sites across the United Kingdom. The MGS has guarded the Defence Estate for over 30 years including high profile locations such as MOD Main Building in London, Whitehall and His Majesty�s Naval Bases at Portsmouth, Devonport, and the Clyde. We provide access control, military working dogs, control room operations and other security services. We play a vital role supporting the Defence Mission and work to protect the Defence estate and personnel from crime, terrorism, espionage, and sabotage threats.

Person specification

Our Kennel Supervisor�s main responsibility is ensuring the day-to-day maintenance of kennels and welfare of Military Working Dogs to allow them to perform their tasks effectively to protect the unit.

�The key duties are as follows:

Ensure that all dogs are correctly groomed, fed and cared for.Ensure kennels are maintained, cleaned, and disinfected to a high standard.Establish a suitable training programme for all the handlers and keeping the Operational Manager informed of progress. Maintain and sign off all Continuation Training (CT) to the appropriate dog records.Completing, dispatching as necessary and maintaining all relevant documentation as listed in standing orders, in particular accounting for dog rations as per JSP456.Carry out the duties of a dog handler on shift if required in accordance with standing orders. In this event the job description for a CSO5 (Civilian Security Officer 5) dog handler will apply.Ensure that all instructions issued by the Royal Army Veterinary Corps (RAVC) or the MGS Dog Evaluation Officer (DEO) which apply to Military Working Dogs (MWD) are strictly complied with.Inform all interested parties of an intended DEO inspection/visit and make any appointments as necessary.
