Our workshops and groups provide an opportunity for service users to create community around their interests and passions.

As a volunteer you will be supporting service users and Workshop Leaders by chairing these social spaces so that they are inclusive and safe.

In this role you can use your own unique experiences and skills to make personal difference to those using the service.


  • At the Southwark Wellbeing Hub we aim to provide a range of support for anyone in Southwark facing issues impacting on their mental health, this includes; wellbeing workshops, peer support and onetoone support. Our support group Black Space aims to provide a space to share experiences of being black and the issues impacting on wellbeing and mental health.

Who are we looking for?
For this role you need access to the internet and web-conferencing.

We are unable to provide equipment to access the internet or reimburse costs incurred from personal internet use.

Key Tasks:

  • Working alongside the Wellbeing Workshop Coordinator and different Workshop Leaders to ensure our Wellbeing Workshops and groups remain safe spaces, free from discrimination
  • Explain confidentiality and the group agreement at the start of workshops and endeavour to prevent the agreement being broken
  • Identifying when the group agreement has been broken and taking action, for example, by speaking to group members on an individual basis and reporting incidents to the Wellbeing Workshop Coordinator
  • Explaining about Southwark Wellbeing Hub service and giving signposting information to those who may need additional support
  • Helping with administrative tasks; sending reminders prior to the workshops, helping with feedback forms and keeping track of registers and attendance
  • Guiding conversations about lived experience of mental illhealth
  • Understanding issues around Safeguarding and taking action to explore and record any concerns raised in the workshop
  • Maintaining boundaries with service users and within the group
  • Recognising when an attendee may need further support beyond the group. Finding resources and other services that may be helpful to them and, when appropriate, referring an attendee for 1:1 support

  • Excellent active listening and interpersonal skills: empathy, kindness and patience
  • Confidence speaking to a group and creating rapport
  • Ability to problemsolve, be proactive, and take a strength focused approach
  • Awareness of the importance of maintaining punctuality, boundaries and confidentiality

Job Types:
Part-time, Volunteer

Part-time hours: 3-5 per week

Salary:
£21,946.48 per year
