Personal Support Worker

We are looking for a reliable, friendly, caring person with experience of looking after children with additional needs, preferably autism to provide support to a 9-year-old boy with autism.


Initially, the support would be provided at the family home with mum there, until he is comfortable to be left with the applicant, as he is likely to get anxious or upset with this.

He thrives on routine and is a homebird.

He loves football so a good knowledge of this would help the successful applicant to relate to him more. He loves his Switch and playing games especially FIFA games or Super Mario. He likes to play football and loves collecting football cards.

Duties will include help with personal care, making his meal and being with him all of the shift. He needs help with understanding and being able to communicate how he is.

If he becomes ill, he can't tell us how he feels so a basic first aid knowledge would be required.


There are up to 6 hours per week available on an hourly rate of £10.50, however there is flexibility in the hours.

Ideally, we are looking for 4 hours a week term time either Monday, Tuesday or Friday between 3.45pm to 8pm.

Days can be suited to the applicant's needs.

In school holidays extra hours can be worked, so a minimum of 6 hours per week would be required, preferably daytime.

If the applicant wanted to work more hours in the school holidays this would be great.


All available hours would be on weekday, so there would be no expectation for weekend working unless the applicant wanted to or there was an emergency.


A Full UK Driver's license with the appropriate business insurance would be an advantage, as we live on the outskirts of Carlisle and there may be times when my son may want to go out.
