We are looking for a Speech & Language Therapist to join our friendly and supportive team in Oldham. This permanent position will offer the exciting opportunity to step through to a Band 6 role following completion of the appropriate competencies. We welcome applications from qualified Speech & Language Therapists and those nearing the end of their Speech & Language Therapy degree.

There will be opportunities to gain a wide range of paediatric SLT experience and you will find a strong commitment to professional development and staff wellbeing within our team. You will receive regular opportunities for supervision, peer support and be supported to work towards your RCSLT competencies and/or individual development goals.

The Children's Speech and Language Therapy Service in Oldham work with children aged up to 18 years with a range of speech, language and communication needs and the Service is provided across a range of settings (clinics, children's homes, pre-school settings, mainstream and special schools).

We work in partnership with families, nurseries, schools, and other professionals to provide high quality care for children and families referred to the service. Due to the challenges of Covid 19, we have also heavily invested in our knowledge and technical equipment so that we are able to work with our children/families and other professionals remotely whenever appropriate.

Main duties of the job Successful candidates will work in the Community Clinic team. We are therefore looking for individuals who are team players with a passion for meeting the needs of a diverse population.

The successful candidate will:
  • Provide a speech and language service to children across the Oldham area.
  • Assess, diagnose, develop, and implement speech and language therapy packages of care.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure a co-ordinated care plan.
  • Organise and manage a speech and language caseload with support from their line manager.
  • Work with children and young people with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs including speech disorders and language disorders e.g., Developmental Language Disorder.
  • Demonstrate clinical effectiveness using evidence-based practice and outcome measures.
  • Provideclinical advice to others, including parents/carers, school staff and other professionals regarding the management and care of children with communication difficulties.
