The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a new role within the charity and forms an integral part of the Senior Management Team (SMT), contributing to the strategic direction of the charity and leading some of its core business functions, namely human resources, finance and commercial.

You will manage the Coram's Fields financial reporting and management systems, regularly reviewing policies, systems, and procedures to identify improvements and ensure robust and efficient processing and reporting on the charities financial position.

You will work with Managers to assess the financial performance of all services, reviewing management accounts and regularly meeting with Managers to review spend and develop detailed projections for future expenditure.

You will be responsible for holding managers to account for the financial performance of their respective service.

You will coordinate the statutory accounts process for both Coram's Fields and Coram's Fields Sport and Recreation (CFSR), liaising with our accountant and auditors to ensure the timely provision of information and to make sure all audit recommendations are completed.

You will be responsible for reviewing and updating the charity's annual risk register, annual declarations of interests and Trustee personal details.

You will be responsible for producing the annual Trustees' Report and Impact Report for Coram's Fields and Coram's Fields Sport and Recreation (CFSR), liaising with the CEO, Managers, Accountant, and Trustees to provide a comprehensive overview of the charities performance and impact during the year.

You will be the main point of contact for CFSR, attending twice yearly Board meetings, working with Trustees to ensure that all governance functions are discharged.

It is for you to work with the Operations Officer, to maximise existing and identify new opportunities for commercial revenue, including through Coram's Fields café, park events and facility hire.

Driving commercial growth is a key part of the role.

You will be responsible for developing and regularly reviewing Coram's Fields HR policies, systems, and processes, working with the Office and HR Manager and service managers to ensure they remain relevant and that colleagues understand them and effectively implement them.

With the Office and HR Manager you will establish and embed the use of our HR software (Bright HR) providing guidance to managers and making sure we make the most of the HR functionality to reduce duplication and improve efficiency.

Following consultation with colleagues and the Senior Management team, you will develop a clear training and development policy for everyone.

It will be up to you to oversee the core offer to make sure managers/teams have up to date training in key areas such as safeguarding, first aid, health and safety/risk, equality, and inclusion.

You are responsible for making sure we are legally compliant with all statutory training.
Regularly review and develop the organisations supervision, appraisal, and personal development processes.

You will ensure that managers have access to and training in, a range of high-quality tools that support people management across the charity.

With the HR and Office Manager, oversee HR updates for staff.

Manage the Office and HR Manager, Finance Officer, Operations Officer, and Café Manager; Along with the CEO, Buildings and Facilities Manager and Fundraising Manager, you will develop the strategic plans for the charity and be collectively responsible for their successful delivery.

You will deputise for the CEO during periods of absence and represent Coram's Fields at a range of partnership and networking events.

These may consist of Powerpoint decks or other digital presentations.
Minimum five years' people management experience, including effective performance management. Experience of being part of a senior management team and contributing to the wider strategic objectives of an organisation. Experience of policy review and development, in particular HR and finance policy.

Experience of working with colleagues to develop an understanding of, and to support the implementation of policies across an organisation.

Experience of producing, reviewing, and re-forecasting budgets, ideally for organisations/departments with a turnover similar to that of Coram's Fields (c.£Experience of coordinating the statutory accounts process, including producing annual Trustee Reports, organisational risk registers and liaising with Auditors/Trustees/Accountant to deliver audit recommendations.

Experience of producing a range of financial and written reports to demonstrate the financial performance of an organisation or department, of similar size to that of Coram's Fields (£2 million).

Experience of online HR systems and utilising these to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of HR functions.
Able to demonstrate prior experience of successfully growing income i.e. retail, café, events, partnerships (similar to Coram's Fields current commercial income of c.£Experience of overseeing training and development within an organisation to ensure delivery of compliance and best practice.
Outstanding leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team, to create a culture of high performance

Commercially astute, with the ability to identify opportunities for income growth and work with colleagues to deliver on these.

The ability to interrogate and review existing policies, systems, and practice, to develop learning and improve best practice
IT literate, with excellent knowledge of all Microsoft products, in particular you will need to be an advanced user of Excel

Strong HR and employment law knowledge and the ability to utilise this knowledge to improve HR performance and practice.
