We are working with an organisation supporting children and families across Birmingham. Our client is looking for a Family Support Worker to join their team. This is an ongiong contract position. Working hours are Mon-Fri 9am to 5pm. The role is part officeand part community based.


The key priority for Family Support teams is that children, young people and families are safe and feel safe, which means providing timely, accessible early help and support to ensure they are resilient, independent and confident in their future.

FamilySupport services work with children, young people and families in a multi-agency environment providing early help to identify and address problems before they escalate.

General

Responsibilities:

In accordance with policies and procedures provide a timely response to the identified needs of children and young people.

To act as the lead professional for an allocated case load of children and families.


Under the direction of the Team Manager promote and use of the early help assessment and relevant tools to identify the needsof children, young people and their family and to lead the development of an effective multi-agency support plan.


To be responsible for a high standard of case recording that is up to date; including use of a common database.

To manage and prioritise a caseload, ensuring appropriate escalation to line manager where necessary.


To convene, organise and chair case planning and review meetings, including acting as lead professional under a multi-agency Integrated Support Plan where appropriate.

To attend case conference meetings sharing information and with safeguarding colleagues and partners where appropriate

To complete assessments and reports to recognised standards and timescales.


Promote and use evidence-based practice when working with children and families, for example graded care profile and other assessment tools, parenting programmes etc.

Required experience for the role

  • Experience of delivering evidencebased interventions with children, young people and their families
  • Experience of completing or supporting the completion of an assessment of a child's needs that identifies needs and informs Intervention
  • Experience of working in partnership with key statutory and nonstatutory stakeholders
  • Able to identify issues that require escalation in line with Right Help Right Time and work within policies and procedures that promote and safeguard the welfare of families
  • Ability to analyse information to identify strengths and weaknesses and to develop an appropriate support plan
