Days & Hours:4 hours on a Wednesday 5.00pm-9.00pm, more hours may become available in the future, including weekends.

Pay:
£18.00 per hour Monday to Friday and £19.00 per hour Weekends

Desirable:
Experience working with children with deaf children and autistic traits, sign language

Accommodation (while on duty):2 bedroom flat or within the local community

Rashid, born in 2013, lives at home with his parents and 2 younger siblings. He is a sociable, bright, and well-behaved boy who loves football, swimming and gymnastics.


Rashid is deaf and shows some autistic traits, he wears hearing aids and in a quiet space can hear very well, but if there is background noise it can be challenging for him.

He is able to use sign language but his preference is to speak.


Rashid is looking for a Buddy/Support Worker to help him with social and group interaction whilst gaining independence when out in the community, managing situations whilst in a shop and using public transport.

Your role will be to accompany and help him to participate in his weekly football sessions, access and to practice his conversations skills, both listening and speaking especially when the topic may not be of his choosing.

The role may broaden later in time to include helping him with homework and reading.


This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated person to join a dedicated home care team and develop existing skills and support this very special little boy.

Pay and Benefits:

- £18.00 per hour, Monday to Friday and £19.00 per hour, Weekends.

  • 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata
  • Free DBS check.

In order to promote continuity of our high care standards, you will be offered:

  • Relevant training opportunities (including The Care Certificate),
  • Regular clinical supervision/review meetings,
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated Case Manager and HR department

This position will require:

  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK;
  • Satisfactory references, including your last employer;
  • An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Certificate. A conviction will not necessarily prevent you from being employed.
  • About You
  • Must be able to work with specialist equipment (training will be provided). A Handling Management Plan is available and is designed to reduce the risk of handling injuries, but you may be required to bend, kneel, squat, push or pull.
  • Experience with working with Deaf children who pose some autistic traits
  • Confident and comfortable working in Rashid's own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of him and his family
  • Can demonstrate commitment and passion for meeting Rashid's needs

Our Case Managers work closely with our Clients, and we carry out all the recruitment processes on behalf of our Clients; and will support you, from your initial telephone interview right through to arranging employer interviews, trial shifts and placement.

If you are successfully recruited, you will be employed directly by our client.

However, ILS will manage your day to day employment, providing you with the support you need to carry out your role.
