  • Principal Accountabilities
  • Fulfil all duties detailed within Uniformed Security Standard Operating Procedures in a diligent manner
  • Put the customer at the heart of everything you do providing exceptional customer experience, treating all with respect and courtesy.
  • Provide excellent customer service when dealing with both internal and external customers. Uphold and conduct yourself in accordance with all company procedures and policies.
  • Keep up to date of ongoing issues and developments within the company.
  • Have a working knowledge of the laws, rules of evidence and court procedures relevant to the role.
  • Conduct yourself in accordance with all company procedures and policies.
  • Ensure SIA standards regarding officer behaviour are adhered to and physical abilities are achieved.
  • Take pride in personal appearance and job role performed.
  • Understand the Company's Health and Safety policy and maintain the health and safety of both yourself and others whilst at work and in line with its instructions.
  • Undertake investigation & action into complaints and/or inquiries generated by, staff, contractors and the general public.
  • Be proficient in Conflict Management, Conflict resolution and physical intervention techniques
  • Undertake initial investigations & action concerning missing merchandise / equipment or other allegations of crime.
  • Keep appropriate and thorough records of incidents and write reports when necessary.
  • Maintain and contribute to the continuity of your team's workload and responsibilities and be jointly responsible for the safety, welfare and productivity of the team at all times.
  • Work together with the wider directorate; as a team, to build commitment, relationships and strengthen the team's collective skills base.
  • Continue to learn and grow by developing skills beyond core activities.
  • Participate in Security training sessions.
  • Support new colleagues when learning new systems and best practice.
  • When requested by management undertake First Aid Training to allow you to administer First Aid (once qualified).
  • Act as an ambassador for the organisation, constantly upholding the Harrods values, both internally and externally, in terms of behaviour and ways of doing business.

  • The role necessitates the protection of both the public and staff and will include an element of risk in order to protect others from harm and this is achieved through dynamic risk assessment carried out by the job holder.
  • The role of a uniformed security officer necessitates a standard of personal fitness that enables the jobholder to carry out their full duties, which include standing, sitting and concentrating for long periods of time and if necessary being able to carry out the use of arrest, restraint techniques and physical intervention. Personal fitness has to be minimum standard set by company.
  • The role of a uniformed security officer requires mental resilience to occupational hazards like abusive and threatening behaviour, dealing with confrontation and pressures.
  • The position holder may be required to fill any shortfalls on shift the department feels is required.
  • Flexibility with regard to hours and days of work. The role also necessitates a shift pattern that may include working at other Company premises and includes weekends, night work, Bank Holidays and Public Holidays as normal days of work. Additionally, extra hours and/or days of work maybe required and/or changed by the Department, but with adequate notice, typically 48 hours, and with remuneration also by discretion of the Department.
