To co-ordinate all issues, such as template construction and evaluation/alteration; audits and searches as requested; registration of new patients; scanning documents into individual patient records; assistance with EMIS passwords; assisting with new initiatives as these are identified.

Maintain consultant electronic diary and arrange//liaise with them in connection with their itinerary/appointments. Meet and greet visitors to the department.

Maintain and management of consultant and team rota.


Deal with telephone and personal enquiries from patients, GPs, other health professionals, pharmaceutical representatives etc, exercising independent judgment and initiative, giving information and non-clinical advice, and ensuring accurate messages are conveyed and appropriate action taken.

Support management team with management of outpatient clinics, re-arranging and suspending as necessary to ensure adequate medical staff cover.


Open and prioritise incoming post, ensuring supporting information available when appropriate and taking responsibility for actioning urgent items in the absence of the consultant.
