Electrical Design Engineer- Kent

Our client is an established Tier 1 contractor with extensive operations in Ireland, UK, and Europe.

Due to a full order book across all regions, our client is now looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to oversee the development, testing, and supervision of the electrical equipment and systems of projects in Kent.


Key Responsibilities & Requirements:

Develop electrical systems designs including lighting, power distribution, high and low voltage systems, EV installations and M&E building services in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.

Report to the Design Manager and help with the design development & packages on a range of projects within the railway environment.

Conduct load calculations, short circuit analysis and coordination studies to optimize system performance and reliability.

Managing the design team and offering Electrical engineering support to all Electrical engineers.

Create electrical drawings, schematics and specifications using CAD/ micro-station software, lighting, and electrical design software to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to integrate electrical systems into overall project designs.

Attending project meetings, planning, and providing input on design requirements, allocations, and schedules.

Carry out code reviews and obtain necessary approvals from regulatory authorities as needed.

Develop technical guidance and support to ensure adherence to best practices and safety protocols.

Carry out relevant calculations following the British standards, Network Rail standards, Building Regulations, and other relevant standards.

Knowledge of current Building Regulations, especially energy-related controls.

Maintain accurate records, design changes, revisions, and project correspondence.

Present project updates to stakeholders providing clear and accurate explanations as needed.

Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

3+ year experience in electrical design engineering within the Building Services Industry/ Rail environment.

Electrical installations/maintenance is an advantage.

Proficient in Auto CAD/ Micro-station.

Rail construction background is beneficial.

Knowledgeable in drafting technical reports and documentation for the railway environment.

Excellent delegation and organizational skills.

Ability to work and collaborate with the wider project team.

Strong communications and problem-solving skills.
