About the Role

As an Accommodation Officer at Dorset Council, you will play a pivotal role in efficiently managing the council's supply of temporary accommodation across the region. We are seeking a proactive individual to ensure rent payments are collected promptly, maintain the physical condition of accommodation, and liaise effectively with stakeholders to support homeless households.

What is the day-to-day of the role:

  • Efficiently manage temporary accommodation supply.
  • Ensure timely rent payments and debt recovery processes.
  • Conduct inspections and arrange maintenance of properties.
  • Collaborate with housing finance team to control financial liability.
  • Maintain accurate records of accommodation management.
  • Monitor safety certificates and standards of accommodation.
  • Liaise with landlords, contractors, and support services.
  • Arrange client placements and support households during their stay.
  • Administer occupier movement and manage eviction processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A benchmark of 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English, at Grade C or above, or relevant experience
  • Substantial experience in local authority housing, registered provider, or third sector Knowledge of housing tenancy issues and maintenance processes * Competency in Microsoft Office and rent account management.
  • Understanding of welfare benefits, housing legislation, and equal opportunity principles
