Job Description:


Pertemps Recruitment agency has partnered with a major London borough council, this council is looking for Head of Repairs to join their team in London.

This is a full-time, 12 Months FTC role - paying up to - £88,000 per annum.

Your Role:

Reporting to the Assistant Director for Repairs this role will head up the Repairs Client Team (made up of approximately 25 staff members) and directly line manage 3 senior managers

  • To lead, manage and develop the Client Team, in line with relevant legislation namely Council policies relating to Gas, Electric, Disrepair, Asbestos, CDM.
  • To provide leadership, management, and direction to a team of multifaceted professionally qualified staff who are responsible for monitoring contractual and financial compliance and client satisfaction for contracted services.
  • To provide leadership and strategic direction for the delivery of all services in line with the wider council and HRA Business Plan.
  • To work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership team to deliver continuous service improvement and satisfaction with the Economy
    Key Responsibilities:
  • Planning, Organisation, Leadership and Decision Making _
  • Manage all staffing activities within the respective portfolio i.e. day to day management, recruitment and agency staffing, and budget management etc.
  • To provide management and leadership to the Client Team and maintain a center of excellence regarding commissioning of contracts, service level agreements and partnerships (internal and external).
  • To ensure specified contractual standards result in client and customer satisfaction and that services are developed to meet the changing needs of the Council's tenants and residents.
  • Contract Management_
  • Attend client meeting reviews and performance compliance meetings in order to develop action plans and programmes for compliance as well as new service improvement initiatives
  • To work collaboratively with Council Service Leads and teams to ensure the delivery of desired outcomes through evaluating contract performance, costs and spend
  • Stakeholder Management_
  • Formally represent the Council in its relationship with corporate stake holders and key business partners at National and Regional events and forums.
  • To identify opportunities to work collaboratively within the council and with other external partners to increase value for money
  • Financial_
  • To manage defined revenue budgets for the service area ensuring appropriate monitoring and profiling arrangements are in place, budget pressures are identified and mitigated, whilst producing recovery plans as necessary to bring the budget to balance.
  • To manage budgets within the resources available and in line with priorities and financial targets and in compliance with policies, financial regulations and standing orders of the Council.
  • To ensure value for money is achieved from external and internal service providers and partners through the use of appropriate contractual and service level agreements.
    Knowledge & Experience
  • Extensive experience of working in a social housing or regulatory environment for either a local authority, housing association or equivalent
  • Experience of managing a diverse range of staff and functions including managing contractors, social housing projects or regulation of private sector housing
  • Extensive experience in developing and implementing structures and procedures to ensure proper governance and compliance in managing contracted services
  • Demonstrable experience of capital and revenue budget and resource management and developing and implementing expenditure plans.
