Working as a Benefits Value Adder within the Customer Engagement Directorate, you will supervise a team of Benefits Officers in all areas of processing.


Your role will include the following:

  • Help front line staff to help residents in a Housing Benefit environment
  • Manage staff and support them with complex queries including use of the NEC processing system and Civica Digital 360 Document Management System
  • Leading by example and assessing sensitive or complex claims
  • Providing excellent customer service to vulnerable customers
  • Team building, motivation and supervision of a team


We are looking for an empathetic, flexible, pro-active individual who has an excellent knowledge of/ability to interpret Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support and Discretionary Housing Payment legislation.

You will have a desire for continuing professional development and evidence of working with others to drive service improvement.

The post will require hybrid working.

Our team's core hours are as follows:

  • Monday to Thursday 8.45am to 5.15pm
  • Friday 8.45am to 4.45pm
  • Work outside core hours will be inevitable from time to time.
