Job Background/Context:

Wealth is a Division of Citi focused on serving the needs of clients across the entire wealth spectrum The Lending business offers a range of products to suit client's needs and experience. For clients in the Ultra High net worth segment, the product offering is diverse including Securities Based Lending, Commercial Real Estate (CRE), Residential Real Estate finance (RRE), Aircraft, and Art-backed Finance as well as tailored solutions to target market clients of the Private Bank. At the lower wealth tiers lending activities are focused securities based lending and other solutions appropriate for this market segment.

The Lending business organization is client focused. Lending Advisors aligned to bankers and clients are their main point of contact for all credit needs. Lending advisors originate and structure credit transactions, including having initial client discussions, engage with Product/and or Wealth Credit Management, and lead green lights, EDACs, and Term sheet issuance

Head of Lending Advisory, Europe, UK and Middle East:

  • The Head of Lending Advisory is a member of the Wealth Lending Leadership team
  • Is responsible for a team of Lending Advisors aligned to the Europe, UK and Middle East cluster.
  • Has strategy, budget and governance responsibility for the lending activities in the EMEA region.
  • Head of Lending Advisory works in close partnership with Cluster Heads in the geography in respect of origination and client coverage and other members of the Lending leadership and 2LOD in respect of structuring, execution and life of the loan
  • This is a highly demanding role, requiring proven leadership, governance and oversight founded on strong lending and underwriting experience as well as knowledge and experience of Citi's Credit Policies, Standards and Procedures, Risk Management practices and regulatory expectations
  • This role is registered with the Financial Conduct Authority as follows:
    • Citibank Europe plc: Significant Management (FCA CF); Manger of Certification Employees (FCA- CF); Material Risk taker (FCA CF); Significant Risk Taker or Material Risk Taker (PRA CF)
    • Citibank NA: Significant Management (FCA CF); Manger of Certification Employees (FCA- CF); Material Risk taker (FCA CF); Significant Risk Taker or Material Risk Taker (PRA CF)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Defines vision for and partners with key Cluster and global stakeholders to develop the lending strategy and budget for Wealth in Europe, UK and Middle East and contribute to the development of the Global lending strategy and budget
  • Drive execution of the lending strategy and delivery against budget
  • Develop and manage an organization of Lending Advisors that effectively engage with Clients, Bankers, WCM and 2nd LOD to deliver timely lending solutions to meet client needs appropriate to the respective wealth tiers.
  • Represent the lending business in all senior business forum for the Europe, UK and Middle East Clusters

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Extensive experience in client facing lending roles within the Wealth space
  • Solid credit risk management experience, preferably Senior Credit Officer
  • Ability to understand a broad range of credit financing needs across different wealth tiers and develop lending solutions to meet these needs
  • Demonstrates managerial maturity in looking out for the best interests of the enterprise including managing dual reporting lines
  • Proven ability to lead teams and provide governance and oversight
  • Strong communicator
  • Strong presence / ability to liaise with internal heads of businesses, risk and control partners and manage multiple front-line demands
  • Navigates organizational complexity and breaks silos
  • Creates and sustains a network of strong partnerships within the business across all segments & Clusters
  • Proven track record of partnering with global peers in leveraging and implementation of best practices
  • Ability to see the 'big picture' in a complex environment
  • Can make decisions under pressure and short timeline
  • Demonstrated influencing and negotiating ability, resolve conflicts amongst various constituencies
  • Excellent presentation skills – adept at presenting effectively to audiences of various sizes and various constituencies.
